I agree Camille, 40-50 F is IMHO way too cold for it. It doesn't need a winter rest. I keep mine at Phalaenopsis temperature.

I also agree with Camille. This type of Dendrobium does not need a cool dry winter rest. It's a warm grower that likes pretty even temps. During active growth (like now), make sure it gets plenty of water and regular feeding. It does need repotting. Don't be scared, it's not hard to do. Orchids are pretty tough. You can use the same pot, just put it in fresh medium. It looks like it's planted in sphagnum moss. If that's working for you then that's what I'd use. Moss has a tendancy to break down quickly so it needs to be replaced more often.

I agree with Camille. That's a Dend Phal.
According to the orchid nursery I go to, they recommend temperatures no lower than 70F. Plant in a pot that appears to be too small, that way the medium dries faster. Let dry before watering. As much light as possible, I have mine in full morning sun in NJ.

Definately looks like a Dendrobium Phalenopsis in the first pics. The flowers meanwhile are most certainly Phals, the shape of the bud is wrong for a Den.

The small shoot at the bottom looks exactly like the one which appeared on my Den. Phal. at Christmas. It's now arround 16cm high and growing fast.

I grow mine just like a Phal with no winter rest. I do give it more light than my Phals though.

Phals have big floppy leaves, dens have long tall canes. There are Dens that have flowers that do look quite a lot like phal flowers but are almost always smaller then a moderatly sized phal flower.

Dendrobiums need more sunlight and less water then phalaenopsis so make sure you treat each of them for their specific needs.
