I want to repot an older phal for a coworker. I will try to bring a camera to work to take a pic if necessary. Anyway, the plant is big and very unbalanced due to the fact that it has a long stem where the older leaves have fallen off...the stem part alone is probably 8 inches long. It has tons of air roots on the stem so Im thinking if I cut the top and repot it it will be fine and maybe give a keiki off the bottom if she is lucky. I seem to remember hearing about this being done before, but would appreciate any input. I dont want to kill the plant esp. since its not mine.

I have not heard of cutting the stem and seeing if the stem produces a keiki, in theory sounds possible, but am not an experient and will definitely follow this thread. Nothing worse than a lopsided phal falling over..right now I have one that I keep in a deep saucer with rocks and have it leaning back for balance.
