Miniature species Phalaenopsis

Too cute! I just ordered one but the variety is Marriotiana which is a more bronzy color...I need to get this one too!

How dumb of me Nichole not to post the name. It is Phalaenopsis parishii.

And yes Camille, I did bloom it. I bought it last summer when it was a seedling growing on a plaque.

I'm still a relative newbie... especially when it comes to recognizing species. While most seemed to recognize it right away, I was like

The reason I asked is because I'd like to know how you grow it! I've only had mine a week, so am looking for some input from people who have it.

Great photo!! The lips are really nice and dark purple. What a find!!

Camille, I grow it in a greenhouse with bright light, meaning bright shade but no sun. I dunk it about twice per week in a container of rainwater and mist it daily, in the a.m. with a hand sprayer. Humidity ranges from 30 to 70% during the day. It gets a weekly solution, 3/4 tsp. of fertilizer. Our summer temps from May to Oct are low 70's at night and low 90's during the day. The greenhouse stays a little lower at about 89 during the day. Of course, plenty of air is always a prerequisite.

Thanks Jerry! Sounds like I should do fine with mine then. My windowsill conditions are pretty much similar in the summer, just not quite as hot! Good to know that they don't see to mind periods of low humidity.
