I had originally planned on repotting after blooming, but ended up doing it today because the netpot + clear pot system causes huge problems for watering. The roots in the space between the two pots are nearly dead from lack of water (since they dry out too fast). I watered more to help them, but that ended up rotting some of the roots in the netpot! Basically the poor plant was suffering from over and underwatering at the same time.

Luckily I repotted just in time, it still has some decent roots. Anyways thought I'd mention this in case anyone ever runs into orchids potted this way.

Camille, it's a beautiful flower! Someone on the German forum mentioned this way of potting too.
So you too like the plants with smaller flowers?

Did you get new shavings for your Guinea pig without ending up buying plants again? Maybe you should stick to pet shops in stead of garden centers

Camille, I'm happy to see that you cut away the pots and repotted it the way it should be...it's gorgeous!

So...how does the Ginky feel about it?

I'm certain that snoopy way digs the phal, that is, if he hasn't eaten it already

Awesome phal cam! Somehow I missed this posting... Glad to hear you got it out of those pots and cut them away! What a strange way of growing a phal, I agree..

Actually, he ate a different phal last week! I was packing my stuff for a weekend trip and put my bag next to the low table. Snoopy climbed on the bag and managed to reach the phals drooping leaves. He ate half a leaf before I noticed...
