Well at least you should get more flowers once the terminal spike has finished.
Althought I'm not 100% sure it's a spike and not a basil keiki. Difficult to see from the pic how thin it is. I've seen pics of basil keikis that started fairly thin, but not as thin as a spike.

well, IT IS a new spike. This pic was taken 3 weeks ago. Now I can definitely see, I'll post new one tonight.
Nature is strange and has it's own ways... You should try to induce your plant to create a keiki for you with the paste, that way you will get a back-up-reserve baby plant! You are blessed with good luck it seems!
