Sandy, No subspike!! If I was better at posting pictures I would show you how the growth has developed. Anyway, the whole spike is about two inches long and I also have two leaves. There is another inch of spike and then the buds are forming at the end of this whole thing. I have never seen anything like it and since this is a relatively new plant to me, I don't know if it is some sort of wierd growth or if the plant just does it normally. I guess as long as I'm getting buds, I am happy!!

I will take it to my local os meeting, though.One of our members is an AOS judge and he might have seen something like this... Do you have any buds developing on yours yet? Did your growth start out as a big bulging mass of plant tissue?

Not quite sure what you're asking, Mspatt? This Phal grew normally and has been blooming for the last couple of weeks. The bloom is pic & post #1. No abnormalities noted except for these leaves.
