misting and crown rot - Orchid Board

Is there a proper way to mist to avoid water getting into the crown of the plant and causing rot.
Should i even bother to mist phalanopsis. Should i mist the flowers is there any benefit to misting the flowers?

I mist the roots only. I don't mist the leaves or flowers on Phals. I have problems with low humidity, so that is why I mist around the root area. Some mist in the air to help with humidity.

Misting has little to no effect in raising humidity. I'm like kiki-do, I only mist the roots. Be careful about misting the flowers though. Flowers are delicate, and water on the blooms is an invitation for fungus to settle it if there happen to be a few spores flying around.
If you have humidity problems, humidity trays or a humidifier for the room are probably the best options.

I also mist only the roots, to try and give the arial ones some water. The humidity disipates pretty qucikly but the arial roots get some water when you actually spray.

I've never found spraying the leaves to have any real benefit, even with one I was trying to keep more humid as it had root problems. Spraying the roots was far more effective.

Thanks for the info as i often heard of some misting but I've lost many orchid to crown rot and no longer want to take any chance of getting water in the crown , not even from mist.
