Hi everyone...perhaps you can help me as I have one surviving phal and it looks just like the yellow one in Sandy's photo....I just had 3 but two died when I was out of country. Anyway this one survived but it has always had two long spikes which never stopped flowering and now I am seeing a plant at the end of one of the spikes. I hav ehad this for at least 3 years and has always been in bloom. Please help..... How do I transplant it and when....many thanks

Thanks every body Glad you likey!

trinimom, You can re-pot your Phal. at any time. You don't have to wait for any particular time. Spikes or no spikes...it won't cause any setbacks. The most I've seen is a very slight stall with leaf growth but, hardly worth mentioning. I re-pot my Phals yearly, clean up, cut out the dead roots and give them fresh medium. They appreciate this. Do you have any pics of your Phal that you can post? Would love to see it. Do you have a label/name for this one?

phearamedusa, no tags with this one so it's a NOID.

Nichole and Camille...you're so right! The cashier told me that they're getting in a huge truckload of newbies this weekend so I think "no more" has just bit the dust.

Thanks so much Sandy for your reply and so much info as well.. thanks.
Well I did repot and put it in to a wire basket and then it started growing so much and sent out another spike with flowers and the two spikes have never stopped flowering. I would take a photo and post sometime today..... But how do I repot the plantlet at the end of the spike....do I cut at the spike where the roots have stopped or wait for more roots ....

Are you talking about a kieki on one of the spikes, trinimom? I have my very first one growing now (bought it, already growing). The rule is to wait until there are at least 3 roots, 2-3 inches before removing from the spike. If this plantlet is growing a spike (as mine was), you want to cut it down to allow it the energy it needs for growing more roots. Here's a thread I posted recently with some info... http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ce-needed.html
