Default Siamese

Noticed something cool happening with one of my Mounted noid Phals. It looks as though one of the buds are Siamese twins. They both are on the same bud stem and they are jointed at the center.

Neither have I. maybe being stuck together might prevent them opening all the way.

Wild! I do wonder if they will open all the way. I guess time will tell.

Isn't it neat the things plants (and especially orchids) will do? I always wonder what caused it. Genetics? Quirck in growing conditions at just the right time?

Hi
That's very weird & what is weirder is I think I have the same thing going on on one of my Noid white phal with purple 'interior' at the moment ..Did yours look like this before the bud opened? apologies photos arn't very good

I have had mine 3/4 years and tis is the first time this happens (only one 'double bud' on 2 spikes)

That's a really interesting genetic hiccup! It will be interesting to see if it does open all the way, and if it does how long the plant will hold onto it. I've had a few genetic bloopers in the past and the plant seems to know somethings not right with that flower and drops it prematurely. Keep us posted!

Well they are trying their best to open. The back pedals are working against each other.

Neato!
I had to laugh a bit at the first pick... I always picture the dialogue that would be going on if things could speak... so flower in pic on is saying "uh, escuuuuuze me! I'm tryin' to bloom here."
