I just wanted to share with you this purchase I made at Walmart last week, although I know there are those who stay away from NOIDS.

There were only a few phals left in the garden section but this little yellow phal stood out from among the greenery. It's such a cute little thing but when I realized there were 2 phals in the pot, and the other one in spike too , and it was only $10CDN, I thought I just couldn't pass it up.

Best of all though, I didn't expect it to be fragrant! I didn't detect any scent when I bought it. I go to work quite early so I don't have a chance to tend to my orchids until late afternoon. Sometimes I think I detect a scent but it's so faint it's hardly worth noticing. This morning, I smelled one flower that just opened a few days ago, and I got a blast of sweet cinnamon! Score! I don't have any other fragrant phals yet so this is such a pleasant surprise.

I emailed the grower and they told me it's name is Goldie. I was comparing it to images I found in the web but they don't exactly match. In any case, that's the name I'm sticking to. I'm very happy with this phal and I hope the second plant in the pot will also be fragrant.
