Default Com-Pies of Phal. cornu-cervi Red

So I ordered a flask of Phal. cornu-cervi Red and received it yesterday. The condition of the seedlings as appauling! It was like a little ball of mud with some plants sticking to it....not good...so I deflasked and made com-pies . There are in Chilean spag under my T-5 lights with two 4 inch pc fans blowing in opposite driections. I hope at least some of them survive.

Yikes! That's too bad Dana! They do look very cute in their pie plates though. Are these going to be part of your "store" inventory? I love cornu cervi, but I've never seen red before. Do you have a picture of what they're supposed to look like?

Hey Teri, yes these are part of my store inventory but obviously won't be ready for a while.

I have a mature one that bloomed non stop all last summer...they are also very fragrant!

You described what most flasks look like after being sent through the mail. If you had no fungus in the flask, they will be fine. The plants look great right now.

Are they really planted in glass pie pans? How are you going to water them? T-5's and two fans will dry them out pretty fast.

I was worried about that, Brooke. What do you suggest? What would the fungus look like?

It's a stringy gray stuff in the flask. You would recognize it if you see it.

I'm more worried about the pie pan/watering issue. The plants look GREAT!

Have you done flasks before? Are you keeping the humidity up until they harden off? Am I worrying needlessly?

Cornu-cervi is one of my favorite species and the red isn't readily available.

I agree with Brooke the combo. of the fans and light will be too hard on them , also they should be in a container with holes in it I use shallow plastic tupper ware containers with holes burned in them with a soldering iron .. Save one for me Gin

Old frisbees might work too with holes drilled in them.
