64 buds... now bud blast! What type of phal is it? Female
Default 64 buds... now bud blast! What type of phal is it?

I bought this Phal last Sunday. About 9 flowers have opened and one of the older flowers fell off. It fell off on Tuesday and I though it might have fallen off due to the move although it was only out in the cold for minutes. I also accidently left the window open for a few hours.

Now today I noticed some of the tiny buds near the tips (a few buds back from the tip) are yellowing and it looks like bud blast. I haven't watered it yet as it still looks moist. The pictures are from a few days ago. Any tips on what to do? I was sooo excited about it I would love to save the blooms!!!

Does anyone have any idea what type of phal it is? I was thinking it might be a different type and need different care? The flowers are 1.5 to 1.75 inches across and the leaves from tip to tip are about 12 inches. is it a large mini?

Thanks
Ky

Beautiful plant , the exposure to cold is probably what caused it considering where you are, almost a sure thing .
It is a hybrid no special care . Not a lot you can do to save all the buds .. Gin

You will probably not be able to save all the buds but you will still be able to enjoy a few flowers, Next year it will be more adjusted to your environment and bloom just fine but since it is likely coming from a happy tropical greenhouse to a drier cooler home it is going to loose a few flowers and possibly a few leaves as it adjusts from the change.

I have one similar. It's a Phal equestris hybrid. Mine is called Phal Brother Spring Dancer, but yours is not necessarily that. There are several hybrids that look the same. Other ones like it is Phal Be Tris, Phal Sogo Tris, Phal Sogo Kitty... There are many more!

One thing I noticed is that mine is VERY prone to blasting. The slightest change in conditions makes everything blast. Mine bloomed in december, didn't like the cooler period while I was away for xmas, and when I came back and turned up the heat, everything blasted.
So if yours is a similar cross, you might have the same problem.

Also, with those equestris hybrids, the flowers tend to open sequentially, so it is normal for old flowers to die off while new ones are still opening.
