Default Phal equestris 'Orange' (somehow a bit disappointing)

Ok, I admit it is a seedling and that it will improve with time (I hope!), but after several weeks watching the spike grow up to 18", I think it is quite disappointing to have ONLY 2 blooms on it

and yes, I know, those 2 flowers are really nice.. good size, and great shape (a bit too different from normal equestris for my taste, I must admit)...

Judge yourself

I personally love it! The colors are great on it. It's a shame that you only got 2 blooms but give it time. I have a phal keiki with 50% equestris, and it only gave 5 blooms for it's first spike.

The flowers are very pretty, nice orange tint.
My old equestris makes flowers and keikei's like mad and I bet next years flower count will be far from disappointing.

he-he, that's the case with my "standard" equestris, one or two keikis per spike, and normally two spikes at the same time... I wish I could let it grow with the keikis, the same way as the one awarded last October in the Locarno Show (scroll down in this page to see the picture of it Bewertungssitzung vom 10.10.08 ), but unfortunatelly, I do not have the space for it...

translation (13 Infl., 124 Blüten, 57 Knospen. Blütengrösse 3,0/3,0 cm): 13 spikes, 124 flowers, 57 buds. flower size 1.2x1.2 inches

Remember equestris has a branching spike habit, and you have lots of nodes so it may just be warming up. It's very pretty. I've had my eye on this clone at Big Leaf.
