I don't know if it's everything when it comes to orchids but I am wondering if a bathroom is a good place for an orchid because of the humidity from the shower?

Right now I've a phal sitting on the back of the toilet beside a frosted south facing window.

Any advice? Do it ? Don't do it? Too hot and steamy? Only been there about a week so probably too soon to tell if it likes it or not.

I have 3 phals in my bathroom in an East window. They've been there for about 2 years now and really seem to like it--all are getting ready to bloom again. I don't know if the humidity from the shower does all that much, as they are on humidity trays.

As long as it's getting the right light, it should be happy with the humidity in there

I have one to and they can get quite hot so ventilation is neccessary. I have a fan in the bathroom and people call me crazy for this.
The way I'm doing it is right after I take a shower, I will close the door and let the humidity trap inside and it last a good 2-hour for me I believe. I also spray the plants afterward whenever I remember, and I turn on the fan whenever there's presence of high humidity and/or water on the leaves. So far so good....you can see it here...

It depends on the normal humidity in your area. Here in Miami putting a phal in a steamy bathroom would be like a personal invitation to Mr. Rot. and Mr. Fungus. My aunt in dry California grows several orchids mounted on cork actually in her shower and they love it.

We have several Phals in a bathroom window that do very well there - roots everywhere. They like the humidity and the light is about right and I won't give up other precious space for them elsewhere.
