The nice thing is that they were willing to answer me, to me it was an added bonus to be told send picture then I can tell you what number it is, so you can get name when its available. I would have preferred to have a tag/parentage info with plant, but my Mum always told me beggars can't be choosy.

Michalea,
let us know if they do get back to you with the info, or if they were just blowing smoke like my other half thinks...

Isn't it ironic!! I posted this picture a couple of weeks ago. I picked this plant up at a Fresh & Easy grocery here in Bakersfield, CA. Quite obviously the same plant, however other than the price tag absolutely no info. The blooms on this one are maybe half dollar sized. If you find any more info, I would sure like to find out. Maybe someone can comment. If these minis are true harlequin's, would one expect there to be some variation (like spotting) in some? Is it usual for them to be so solid as to appear black except for the white tips on petals and sepals?

Well it has FINALLY decided to open. The flowers are a little different then I had thought but that's okay, they're still very nice.

color is a little washed out in the pictures and they still need to open a bit more. Lip is dark royal purple color with spot of yellow, petals are a purplish red and edges have fine margin of white. Now to send them to Pascale and see what info she sends back....

I just realized what these look like to me. I think they might be some form of Phal. Ever Spring Prince. Maybe 'Black Eagle' or 'Sun Moon'.

Heres pics of those two and the site where I found them:

I'm going to try this again...3rd times the charm my mum says...

Evan,

Thanks for the lovely big drool puddle on my couch, and I can't even blame the dog this time....I was bad enough while in English Garden, wishing to take home at least 2 orchids(buy one, get 2nd 1/2 off). The best part ALL of them had name tags...Damn border... I just couldn't sneak them across, i'd be really pissed if they were taken away.
http://slipperorchid.com/other_orchi...l_a_Free_1.jpg flowers are really small, as is the plant, and the color is a little darker on mine compared to what I see on the screen... The lip shape is more like the one on this flower http://slipperorchid.com/other_orchi...old_Free_4.jpg
I'll try to get better pictures of plant, with a ruler for size reference.

Glad I could torture you a little with that eye candy. I know what you mean. I had to get the mop out of the closet to clean up the drool.
