Default Blooming Phalaenopsis schilleriana

This is the plant I bought from Oak Hill in the fall along with the Phalaenopsis schilleriana var purpurea (on the left, not blooming). It bloomed but I was a little disappointed to discover that it's unscented. I tried to sniff it in sunny mornings but nothing happened guess I'm out of luck.

I have wanted one of these for a while but there are others that are higher on my list. But the good thing is that i can enjoy yours! Some are not scented and some are. Just one of the downs of growing orchids from seed, They are not all going to be exactly alike.

They can also not have a fragrance the first year and be really fragrant the second year. Yours is a first time blooming young seedling, it might not have it's act together just yet.

Yeah I did, he said he has a seedling of a jungle form (open flowers) which is supposed to be bred for fragrance. The other seedling are fragrant too but they are a little pricey....like $75 and up not for a college student...) so yeah I'm hoping for that.

I've been wanting this one too, because of it's fragrance and especially the leaves. I love the leaves on this one! A shame that yours is not fragrant. I know what you mean about being a poor student, I try to get my orchids cheap!

One of the local vendors had mentioned this to me. He also had this problem. The parent was fragrance, but most of the stem prop. were not.
Something happened during the process among these clones, they cannot be copied by 100%.
