Better Than Groceries!!

A grocery chain, "Fresh and Easy" is opening up a number of stores here in Bakersfield, CA. My wife drove me out to see what they had and I picked up this little diddy! No label and I have no idea what it is and with my track record with Phals it may not be long for this world anyway. But, for now, I really thought the blooms were neat and for $10 how could I go wrong! If someone has any idea of the ID, I would be glad to hear it. Thanks.

It's a little harlequin like Dtps. Black Butterfly or I-Hsin Black Jack etc. I would like them if the petals were a bit flatter, but for $10 a bargain!

Considering how little $10 buys these days that's a nice plant, great blossoms, and a lot of pleasure. A bargain for sure !!

I've seen those around at shows and catelogues, undergrounder is right, it's related to the harlequins but just has very large more controled spots that cover so much of the petals they appear solid. I also agree that it could be a bit larger and flater but the color is really nice and worth $10!

With your "track record" so as to speak, I am SURE it will be enjoyed for a mucher longer time than say, a bouquet of flowers which only last a few days. I love the dark color....enjoy! enjoy! enjoy! I did, thanks

Jerry that is a beautiful flower! I would gladly skip a meal to get that, now if i can only get the local grocery stores to lower their prices .....

That is stunning! I think others have said its the closest you can get to a "black" orchid, the contrast between the lip and petals is amazing.
