pics of Phal. shillerianna and phal. sogo grape in spike
Hi guys, my phal. schillerianna has decided to throw up a spike (whew! after 3 years--I wasn't watering it enough). I love the mottled foliage on this one! Also, the phal sogo grape is a miniature phal. The bloom on this one is supposed to be fragrant, can't wait for these to open!
Best regards,
Eddie

These are a couple of my favorites! I also have a schilleriana in spike, though the spike isn't as tall as is yours yet. My Sogo Grape has been in flower since June with no signs of stopping, though I'm afraid to say that mine isn't fragrant. I hope yours is!!
Good luck, and good growing!

Hi Eddie,
Congratulations on the shillie spike!!! Mine is coming up on three years also and I'm hoping for a spike anytime. It is mounted and it seems to me it takes a bit longer for mounted plants to get established and bloom. At least that what I'm telling myself.

congrats on the spikes!! My sogo grape only has a light fragrance around 11 a.m. It takes a looong time for the buds to open. Hope your patient.

Hurrah for the spikes! Can't wait to see the pics. I'll have to get the schillerianna, I've been wanting some mottled phals lately!

I love shills! They're one of few orchids that look great in or out of bloom!

My wife and stepson like camoflauge, so I always laugh when they look at my schillerianas or stuartianas. They watch these two species closely because of the "camo" leaves.

Hi Eddie,
Congrats on your spikes...you're certainly doing something right!
Make sure you support your schilleriana spike really well as it grows. Mine bloomed for the first time last year...after 2 years...and when the blooms opened, I found I needed to wire and tape the spike because of the weight of the flowers. This year I have my container suspended so that the spikes can cascade naturally. Having almost lost the spike last year with 27 blooms on it I decided on a different tact this time around, especially considering that the plant has 2 spikes this year.
I have 17 of my winter blooming Phal type plants in spike now...many are just starting. My Sogo Grape is not one of them...good going on yours!
You'll have to post some pics when yours' are blooming. I look forward to them!
