Default Newbie Here:// NOID'S

Im new here - Im Franco. Hope everyone is doing well!

A little backround info on myself: Ive been growing plants for about 2-3 years now, so im still new, and still learning. Ive always been fascinated by orchids and their elegant beauty, which is why at one point I must of had over thirty. But then I got out of the orchid "phase" for awhile, but now its back and full force. Ive been searching the stores for reasonable deals, and have even just ordered a couple orchids off of eBay.

Anyway I have three current Phal's in my posession atm, all three have no id's. These were all purchased locally at the general Shop-Rite, Lowes, & Home Depot. I just cut the spike down on one, so I guess ill have to wait for a new shoot to identify that one.

Here are the two that i have, in full bloom, that id like to find Id's for:

Thanks in advance :33 (Pics arent the best, ill try to get better ones if needed)

They are beautiful noids!! I have one similar (but not exactly the same) to the one in your first picture. The problem with these hybrid phals is that there are so many of them out there that look very similar. It id very difficult to pinpoint an exact name, but I'm sure people will try to help you!

One thing that sometimes works (if you still have the orchid's tag) is to try to find the company name on the tag. Some companies have an online catalogue of their hybrids, so then it is just a matter of comparing photos. I got lucky twice that way.

Thanks
Im not necessarily looking for "exact id's", just something pretty close to what it may be. Thanks on the suggestion to look at the company's website (now i have to find the tags) ....

... My collection is growing! While in shoprite today Steve (the horticulture manager) tracked me down with three beautiful phals. Two plain whites with yellow lips, and a yellow with a pink lip. The yellow is in great shape but the other two are kinda 50/50. One has severe root rot, and the other one has some nice new roots but a broken leaf, with a black fungus growing over it.

I cut off all the rotting roots above the soil, and the flower spikes (I added fresh cinnamon to the cut areas to prevent infection). And i trimmed the leaf with mold all the way back to the nub (only 3 inches of the leaf had remained anyway) and applied cinnamon there aswell. But i still need to repot D: And best of all im out of media. And no one local seems to have any. The one plants sphag stinks horridly of mold... Hopefully ill be able to find somewhere local that sells bark or something tonight or tomorrow. But, anyway, I got all three orchids for 10$ when they were originally priced at 35$ each. Im hoping i can save them.

I forgot to mention that the one I have which is quite similar to your first picture is called 'Pink Panther'. Mine is just starting to bloom again, and I cut off the old spike only 3 months ago! Hard to tell how similar they are since the pic is a bit fuzzy.

Pink Panther's flowers are not so round and full, and the stripes are less dense... Here is the pic of my plant: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...75&ppuser=2881

I completely agree with you, and mine looks exactly like yours. This is the closest ID I can think of, even though it is wrong. I'll have to take a pic of it tomorrow. It put out two spikes! But only 4 buds per spike so far... I'll have to get a better look at the noid's pic tomorrow on a school pc. I can hardly see a thing on my laptop's screen, the backlight died!
