my phalaenopsis amabilis

very nice. How large are those flowers, and how large is the plant?
i am waiting for mine to bloom but it looks sort of small so I am trying to find out if it is safe for it to bloom.

thanks!! the flowers are about 3 inches wide, and the leaves are about 6 inches long....i guess its a medium size plant

yours sounds a lot bigger than mine.
my leaves are barely four inces.
I wonder if its a premature spike.

That's pretty. I remember some of our neighbors grow their chids in their front yard mounted on huge driftwoods under a shade cloth or sometimes just under the trees.

Ed,
Phal. amabilis do bloom when they are quite small, so I wouldn't worry about your plant if it spikes...it'll be just fine. Mine was the size you are describing here when it put up 2 spikes last year...without any problems at all.
