As far as i know, they are nowadays two different species, separated some years ago.

I am quite sure that my plant is P. violacea as the label says. The general look of the flower of P. bellina is a little bit rounder than violacea.

I have a violacea v. coerulea, but it looks different from this thread. Its scent is also differnet from bellina or the normal type of violacea.
Here are my violacea, the left is normal type, the right is var. coerulea.

... or perhaps The Bermuda Triangle ...

Anyway, there is a triangle in my phal, but some weird voice inside my head tells ... it's still violacea.

Perhaps that's why i have more than 60 bellinas/violaceas or their primary hybrids in my collection...

I'm not an expert but I think if it has that coloured triangle shape, then its probably a bellina, if not, its probably a violacea. At least that's the impression i get from looking at heaps of pictures from Alain Brochart's website:

Pics of bellina

Pics of violacea

that is a HUGE phal! but i don't think it is a bellina or a violacea primary hybrid. it's still beautiful though!
