Maybe yours gets less light or lower quality light than Gwen and Terri? You could try stickin it in higher light and see how the next bud turns out. Just an idea. It would be interesting though to see how the blooms would react if your plant was grown by Gwen or Terri.
And if you don't like your plant, you have my address!

I've had probably too bright light but the cool side of intermediate temps and consistent humidity. . .high 70%.

Suppose that makes a difference.

I think that recurve action is genetic. . .it's a little odd. I'd prefer it to be flater but still it's really cute.

mines are also under T5 and receive also about 3-4 hours sunlight during the morning... more light and they will mutate to Brassavola nodosa

Since it is it's first bloom, maybe it didn't get the colors right! It could be that next blooming season the purple might be darker. If not, it could just be genetics that make it pale. Just guessing!

Guess we'll all have to wait another year and compare blooms once more!

Here we go again. . .ROFLOLOL

Be nice if they all got better and better, eh?

Mine is a first time blooming seedling also Ramon. My temps in the grow area were in the low to mid 80's when the spike was forming and for it's first 4 blooms. Let's both hope for better colors next year!

Gwen the petals crack me up. At first I didn't really like the way they recurve, but after your description I had to laugh. They do look like they're face forward in a hurricane!
