My ailing phal, looks really great on driftwood. Had another weekend of rouging and found some great driftwood in a lone pile from the 2004 hurricanes. Yep, you do need an extra hand to wrap the monofilament fishing line. After further inspection of the root system the outer roots were in perfect condition the roots at the underneath/inside of the phal were rotted, thinking this might have been the cause of the leaf dying. Not bad for my first mount.
WOW! That looks fantastic! I really like it! But you should orient the drift wood so that the leaves on the Phal are one set pointing straight up and the other set pointing straight down. THis will help drain the crown when you water it. I cant wait till you post pictures of it with its new roots strangling that wood!!!

Very nice job cheryl. I find myself mounting more and more of my chids on grapevine and driftwood. It looks so much better than stuck in a pot. Anyone need extra pots?
I ment to put anyway you can so that the plant look like this
