Default red phal finally open!

I've been waiting months for a bud to finally open without blast - here it is. I have no idea what kind of phal this is, it is very waxy and brittle. any suggestions? i thought some kind of sogo

Really pretty!!! I passed one up like that early summer because it was a bit overpriced. Now I wish that I had gotten it!

I saw something like dtps chain xen pearl, there was one image with NOID but really similar.

Leslee,

I can't help with identifying this phal, but I can say that it looks nothing like my Dtps. Chain Xen Pearl, althought there can be a lot of variance in the way hybrid siblings look. My Chain Xen Pearl is white overlaid heavily with red/maroon spots. The lip is red/orange with some gold coloration in the throat as well.

Nonetheless, this is a very interesting bllom. I like it!

Recently i bought a phal that was done flowering at 50% The pics i found on google resemble yours. Its "black butterfly".

I will post another pic if it opens more. It looks like black butterfly or maybe black ruby, thanks. I got this from my local nursery for $10 - they have a whole table of out of bloom orchids and I usually pick them up there! It's always a nice surprise to see what the blooms are, but many are NOID.
