Yeah it is a mini at the moment but i have seen some large plants growing in the wild but they never get too large (like a small phal). They flower on small plants.
It has a very nice fragrance.
Hi Sue, i have some other plants which are not yet in flower, this was the first of mine to flower. The others just have buds developing. I see you live very close to where i am. I'm just north of brisbane
I live at Park Ridge which is extreme Southside and.
I am in Logan Orchid Society. It is a nice friendly club. My falcatus was a freebie given to me by a guy in our club whose son has an avocado orchard up at Mt Tamborine. He had these sarcs growing wild in his avo trees. My plant is only tiny but this will be the second season flowing for me. I have mine mounted on cork. I can't remember any perfume last year so I will be waiting for the flowers so I can have a sniff.
I love mount tamborine. Nice place. I have been bush walking there many times and there are many Sarco. falcatus up there. They grow quite easily in orchards and even garden trees up in those areas i saw them growing on the side of the road. Does your plant have yellow markings in the centre or red stripes like mine? there are two forms one with yellow in the middle and the other with red stripes like mine.
Mine definitely didn't have red in the centre, so it must be the yellow variety, although I can't remember exactly. I didn't know they even came with a red centre. I remember doing a bit of research a year or so ago and I can't remember coming across one with a red centre. You do learn some interesting stuff on the Orchid Board.
I will have to keep my eyes peeled for falcatus next time I am up at Tamborine.
