Most plants on the market today with the name Irene Dobkin(s) (Phal. Doris x ascocentrum miniatum) aren't seedlings, but mericlones, the most famous of which are 'Elmhurst' and 'York'.

There are 17 awards to Ascps. Irene Dobkin. Per the award descriptions, the flowers are almost always a uniform (peach) color. Some clones have light stippling at the base of the lateral sepals but none have the heavy saturation that's on your plant.

I don't believe your plant is Irene Dobkin but in any case, it's a beauty!

Thanks to all for your comments...and yes, I never believed it was Irene Dobkins. After I got the plant, I googled the name and what came up was, as illustrated in your pic, a peach/orange solid color

Doc - it could be some unnamed cultivar
It is a hybrid ...

Asconopsis Irene Dobkin =
Ascocentrum miniatum 50%
Phal amabilis = 25%
Phal rimestadiana = 18.75%
Phal aphrodite = 6.25 %

Hi BikerDoc,
I looked up Irene Dobkins in my Sanders DB of registered hybrids, and only came up with one cross bearing a similar name. It was Phal Doris x Asctm miniatum = Asconopsis Irene Dobkin. I think that your plant is absolutely beautiful , but it looks very different from my Asconopsis Irene Dobkin, which I'm happy to say is currently posted on the home page of the Naples Orchid Society website. I actually won the gold ribbon for best in show for hybrids this month with it! Here's a link to the site: Naples Orchid Society, but after next month's meeting, the home page will change, so I'll also post the award pics here.
Happy growing ~ David
