The plant was only in the mail one day but I found both a small snail and slug when removing the moldy medium. I guarantee that the roots weren't healthy when they shipped the plant.
I kind of feel like I bought a gecko on line and received a blind gecko with three legs and now I have to send back its head to get refund.
O.K. maybe it's not that bad but it still stinks. Do you really think the grower is going to save the leaves for tax purposes (their reason for needing the plant back)?
I've been putting off killing the plant for two days. I didn't want a refund, I was just hoping they'd send me a healthier plant.
Her are some pics.

Morbidly yours,

AaronM

Hi Aaron,
Man, what a mess!
The vendor is counting on you to not send the leaves back. They are figuring you won't have the heart to destroy the plant and won't go to the expense of shipping it back. In other words, they are taking advantage of you.

When this happened to me recently, I kept the plant but put the vendor on my "do not buy from" list.
It won't hurt them a bit but I'll know I won't be contributing to their income anymore.

I am sorry Aaron , Don't let the seller get away with that . They owe you a healthy plant or a full refund . Refund preferred . I would file a complaint with ebay including pictures and a copy of what they told you to do .Also if on a credit card call them and put a dispute on the payment . That sucks I would like to know who the seller is , I think I know after doing a search on ended schilleriana ... Gin

Hi Gin,
It is the same vendor I had a problem with a couple of weeks ago. Also one that we all use (well, a number of us). PM me or Aaron, I don't want to mention names on a public forum. And, probably none of us should in this case. Don't want Marty or any individual to get into a legal problem.

Thanks for that, PMing names is the way to do it on forums.

At first I thought I'd just let it slide but then I got kind of annoyed thinking about it and logged on to leave negative feedback for the seller. When I went to leave the feedback I discovered a pleasant surprise. The seller can't hit me with a punitive negative feedback. That is a major improvement to Ebay.
Suck negative feedback Marry's Orkids.*

Thanks all.

Might as well. I can't just kill it to please the IRS. Lord knows I do way too many thing that I don't want to in order to please the IRS.
I mounted it on a cork slab and I'll see how it goes.

I think that when you buy a plant and it arrives in bad conditions, vendors has two ways to react: a serious vendor, would replace the plant or refund the money, without requesting you to send back the old plant (as it makes normally non-sense - and on the other hands, they want to keep a client happy - in the worst case, they will ask you for a picture of the plant to understand the problem!); a non-serious vendor will request you send the plant back, start going back and forward with excuses and/or just ignore your claims (This is teh kind of vendor I avoid for the rest of my life a do not buy from them anymore, and any time I can I give the feedback why I do not buy from them, no matter what experience the other have had with it!)

Hi Aaron,
It's a pretty tough plant, most species are. If you can get some new root growth going it will be fine.
Do you have any K-L-N? I think that should be part of every growers 'pantry'.

I got a rather expensive plant a month or so ago and it arrived in pretty bad shape (private sale/purchase).
I can't say whether it left the green house that way or happened along the way but it's coming along fine with new root growth and a new leaf. It will take years for the old leaves to drop and the plant to look nice but at least I have it in my collection.

Let us know how it does.
Al
