Thanks Ross. I did suspect that the pebbles cause some problem. Even if i pile them on, I never feel quite sure that the roots don't get wet. I'll get rid of them.
I'll try to upload better pictures soon. That's a cool idea - using clear pots. I might try it too if my phal survives ...

White growth on the roots
Unhappy

hello everyone ..
Thanks a ton for all the advice and help. Here is a status update on my phal ...
I got a fungicide called Flower Pharm that's made with cinnamon oil from a nursery nearby.
The fungus really grew when I watered the plant ... So I removed the plant from the pot, cut off some dead roots and also some really healthy green ones that had the fungus growing on them ( The minute I cut I felt I should not have done this ..) I sprayed the areas infected and put it back.
It's been 3 days and the flowers are still hanging on ....
The problem is that some of the roots (not the fat green ones but the thin hairy ones) got exposed because of the cutting . I've looked online and no other re potting looks like this
Besides now I'm afraid to water it. I made the medium wet when I re potted but I have to water sometime soon ....
Should I just water it as usual and hope for the best ?

I'm assuming you repotted into fresh medium? You're right you should not have cut any of the green roots. They were healthy even if they had a little mold on them. What kind of medium did you repot into?

Hi Terri,
I re potted into the same medium. When I removed the orchid I saw that it was potted in a tightly wrapped plastic bag like thinggy and that was put in the pot and the pot was filled with bark all around the bag. I threw away the bark around the roots where the fungus was and used the other bark to repot.
Should I repot in fresh bark ?

Fresh bark is always best, no matter what orchid. The same size is the best. Clear pots always give you the best chance to see what is going on around the roots.
