all, Does anyone know why my Phal. Noid's roots are growing straight up?

I am seeing this too with a few of my orchids. . .I was sort of thinking that they weren't happy in their pot and wanted to tuck up higher on the tree to hang, properly.

I don't have a good way to accomodate them though. . .so haven't done anything about mine.

Be interested to hear what the others think!

I have one doing this as well. Being epiphytes, I think this is normal behavior?

That does look odd Dave. You'd think it would be grabbing on to that pot huh? Whatever the cure may be, its certainly not viagra.

Its normal for Phal's to do this, a possible reason is that the roots in the pot are dead and "decides" not to put more in the pot.

Maybe it's just gravity-challenged ..

If you have a lot of healthy roots in the pot I would say it is normal. If there are dead or dying roots in the pot then it needs repotted or it doesn't like the mix it's in.

Those look like nice, white, fat, firm, roots. Nice long green tips. I'd say it's just happy. Remember the pot is for our convenience, not the plant's. What's your humidity like right now? If it stays high, there is no reason for a root to seek out the moisture, it'll just grow out into the moist air. Looking good!

Hmmmmm, I was thinking the same thing. In fact, when I first saw the pic the first thought that came to mind is it's just happy with all the humidity.
