This phal is soo slow. I have one for a while now, and it bloomed when it first arrived, mmm sweet scent of soap, hehe. Anyway, It has one bud that has done nothing ever since I got it, but has put on a nice new leaf. So long as it keep growing in one way or another.

Maybe it will start to flower when the new leaf finished growing. About the scent, I think mine smell lemongrass.

I hope so, thats what I was thinking, but I always try not to expect too much from my orchids.

Hi Tindomul, I agree as long as it keeps growing...
Mine has a bud from when I first got it a year ago - thats just 'frozen' - it put out a leaf (took all year for it to become as big as the previous) and now this bud which has been forming for months ! I look forward to it opening! go & look every evening as soon as I get back from work...

Mel if your bellina is grown from seed, it can be variable. I would love to see a picture of it and if just green, I would be interested in trading something for it :>)
Spider the violacea var. Borneo is now called bellina.

I'm going to keep it brooke reguardless. It is the first orchid I have gotten to bloom so it will always be a favorite. I will take a picture tonight and post it tommorrow.

Sounds like you got a good one to hold on to! My first to bloom was a NOID. It too, has a special place in my heart (but I wish it was a Phal bellina v. alba!)

In April,my daughter brought me a Phal. bellina that was fairly small, but had a short spike with the beginnings of buds. Instead of the spike growing,it decided to grow a new leaf. It looks very healthy, but when can I expect some progress of the spike?

Difficult to say, I have a Phal. thalibanii that just the same. I suppose it depend on the climat, they like a lot of heat to flower, around 30 degrees C. Maybe itīs warmer then here i Sweden

Thankyou for the hint about heat,Spider. It hasn't been that warm here this summer. I guess I'll just wait some more.
Nancy,
Still short of patience
