hoping the two paphs i bought also will flower next.

My Bellina has finally opened plus a second spike has formed. unfortunately my camera is broke and I can't take a picture. My Bellina is Phal. Bellina F4 strain. In pictures that I have its supposed to have the violet at the center yet this one does not nor is it fragrant (at the moment anyway)

My question is will it turn violet in the center later or will i have to hope another flower might bloom that way.
It does have a lovely green border plus the flower is very small, about an inch across. It is also the plants first bloom.

Phalaenopsis bellina

Maybe your plants that dosnīt flower a once are young plants. Mine is a Phal. bellina from Borneo. It was called Phal violace Borneo, later it was called Phal bellina, and now? I also have a Phal. violacea from Sumartra, it is just pink and it has a little sweeter scent.

Does it look like this? If so I think you have Phal. bellina var alba.

yes something like that. which would get me angry since its not what I paid for. I will take a picture of it tonight with my phone and post it tommorrow so you can see.

Phal. bellina F4 Strain review at Kaboodle this is what it is supposed to look like. I did buy it form normans. It does have that strong green border but no violet in the center just white.

Mel if your bellina is grown from seed, it can be variable. I would love to see a picture of it and if just green, I would be interested in trading something for it :>)

Spider the violacea var. Borneo is now called bellina.

Brooke

I'm going to keep it brooke reguardless. It is the first orchid I have gotten to bloom so it will always be a favorite. I will take a picture tonight and post it tommorrow.

Sounds like you got a good one to hold on to! My first to bloom was a NOID. It too, has a special place in my heart (but I wish it was a Phal bellina v. alba!)

In April,my daughter brought me a Phal. bellina that was fairly small, but had a short spike with the beginnings of buds. Instead of the spike growing,it decided to grow a new leaf. It looks very healthy, but when can I expect some progress of the spike?

Short of Patience.

Difficult to say, I have a Phal. thalibanii that just the same. I suppose it depend on the climat, they like a lot of heat to flower, around 30 degrees C. Maybe itīs warmer then here i Sweden :_(
