Helen,
Yes this helps SO MUCH, I am still have to check my impatience. And your advice gave me something to watch for, I was wondering how people could take care of something for 1 yrs or longer without it ever blooming - not knowing it if will ever bloom again. But now that I know what progress on an orchid looks like I will be much more willing to take care of it. Thanks so much.

Great growing, Helen!
It is just one of the most wonderful feelings to see that new spike emerging. Doing the little happy dance for your success!
I've got the BK too but mine is the peloric version. It's currently in bud. I can't wait to see if it's going to bloom out peloric again or not. But last time, the flowers lasted for a long, long, long, long, long, long time! Super nice for me and my work buddies as this plant lives at work!
Uh Oh, I feel a hijack coming on: I apologize in advance.
Al, I am so loving that little Phal. Newberry Parfait 'Picotee'! It reminds me a lot of my Minho Princess 'Flying'. I love Newberry's smaller size. Where did you find yours?
My Minho Princess has large, very stiff, leathery, inflexible leaves, that split easily. So, it's not a good car traveler. My bottom leaves were damaged in transit and had to be removed. It's not looking so pretty, though the top TWO leaves look good. I am thinking to try keiki past on it next time it spikes in the hope of getting a little new one to pamper and protect. . .just so you know.
I feel that I have to keep Al posted on all my Phals. roflolol
Carry on. . .

Just a quick reply to Gwen, P. Newberry Parfait "Picotee" is a regular sized phal. The picture is deceiving. I will try to start a new thread today regarding this plant as it is doing weird things.
Al
Back to you Helen...............

Hi Gwen...I was told that my BK has a touch of peloric ...if you look closely you might see it in my photo. If you can see it, what do you think?
Also, I am interested in seeing your Minho Princess 'Flying'. I purchased a compot of 4 crossed with Everspring King....I'm going to check your gallery to see if you posted it, otherwise perhaps you could post a picture of it...
I'm hijacking my own thread!

OMG! And if I answer to your hijacking , of my hijacking, then Al's very polite interjection really shouldn't count against him. It was all my fault. I had no accomplices!
I only have ONE photo and so here it tis. . .the BEAUTIFUL Dtps. Minho Princess 'Flying':
P.S. I am still sooooo very disappointed that I let the leaves get damaged and that it's now such an ugly duckling. I did so poorly by this one and it's one of my top favorites.

Helen,
Your BK is sooo pretty! I just love it. We'll have to compare blooms.
As I recall from my first blooming, mine was freakishly peloric. Right now it's in bud and one shoiuld be opening any day now. I hope it doesn't blast. I brought it home from work, for the long (four day) July 4th, vacation, that I am now enjoying! I'll take a pic for you.
I am really curious to see how it blooms out this time. Be fun to see!
