Good for you Helen. BK was one of my first phals too and it stayed in blossom for 10 months! I'm hoping for a repeat show this fall.
I know the feeling of having the first phal show off for you. Congratulations!

I've always wondered if they raise these with additional hormones or something?
Give it time and your others will spike when they're ready to. Hopefully by autumn, when the temps drop, you'll start seeing spiking. Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for your very nice responses. It's FUN to share with all of you!! Regarding basal keikis...I have only had this BF for just over a year, so no keikis yet. I'll let you know if it happens at some point in future.
Good Growing to all of you!

Oh! I was so excited about my 1st, I forgot all about my #2 ....is on it's way, I have a white phal, (NOID) that is in spike...I think it is a Phal. Cool Breeze (Phal. Christian Wichmann x Phal. Dutch Frost) I know who the grower is and all I need to do is take it or a picture in to them and they will confirm. is this the right time of year for phals to bloom?

Helen yes this is the right time of year at our latitude for phals to bloom. I have 3 in full bloom right now and 3 more on the way. Dtps. bloom more often in summer so if you're looking to spread out your bloom season a little look for these. Not all of them do but a fair number. Can't wait to see number 2!

Guess it must be the right time of year for Maine also as I have a number of re-bloomers doing their thing as well as some "first timers".
