if you want a beautiful coerulea Samera (bellina x violacea) check out Bredren Orchids. Phillip got an AQ on his cross and I think 14 or more have been awarded already from that cross. He just put up a bunch of mature plants from the original cross. not cheap but they are really nice. I have one from a few months ago that is gorgeous. BTW, Phillip told me he will vouch for his plants being virus free (and also told me a story of how rampant virus was in phalaenopsis).

If anyone is still watching this thread, orchid classics has them and i s hosting a 99 three Phal species deal. With free shipping it’s a pretty good deal, he has great phals.

How reliable are the specials? The image they had up didn’t quite match the listed (available?) plant/species… seemed like a solid deal though.

I have been buying Phals from the Etsy store called "MysteryGardenStore," and I'm beyond happy with the health of the plants I received. Even those that got damaged in transit recovered quickly. I believe I've bought three different kinds of bellinas from them now.
Now, I haven't bloomed any of my purchases yet (although some are in spike!) so I can't assure their reliability in labeling but their reviews are good. I believe they have carried the coerulea version of bellina in the past.
Another one to keep your eye on is www.sapphiredragonorchids.com especialized in "blue" phalaenopsis.

Good to know about saphire dragon…. I have looked at Mystery Garden Store a few times, but had concerns about their listings…. It seems like they ‘only have one’ of an item but it comes back the next day or so. Not my favorite sales tactic.
I’ll reconsider them based on your opinion… they did have some beautiful plants.

They have the most beautiful gigantea alba listed, but at $200 I really can't buy it right now
They have a samera coerulea! I wouldn't hesitate to contact them regarding bellina coerulea. It looks like a store that imports directly from Taiwan, maybe the side hustle of a wholesaler in the US. Their prices are competitive.

I need to get to know some people that import… I saw a few plants on their site that were a good bit more than I’m willing to pay lol, was looking at that gigantea too!
I think Hausermann’s as a first order was a mistake…. Their plants spoiled me 🥰

I purchased a mystery box (hybrids) from Orchid Classics. One of the Phals. went downhill quickly and they replaced that. Since they were out of stock of the one I lost they sent a different one but it was the same as another that was in the mystery box. Unfortunately all of the phals died within a few months of receiving them. I never contacted them about this but decided not to order from them again. I know others have received plants from them that have survived and thrived.
I've had the Phals. I've purchased from Hausermann, Big Leaf and Wilson Orchids as well as Trader Joe's longer than the ones I had from Orchid Classics and those continue to be healthy and "happy". Wilson, btw, is very reasonably priced. No website but he does attend some shows and sales and I've seen many of his Phals. for sale on the Big Leaf website.
Added: You can try to email Wilson and see if he has what you are looking for. https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...chids+list.pdf

Oh wow, that Wilson page looks great. Is that where all the various ‘Wilson’ nomenclature comes from?
Was that Classic’s a complete mystery grab? I am hoping they have too many of some species prompting the sale right now, pick three from a list of 15ish, and not poor health…. Who knows.

I’ve had great experiences with Orchid Classics. Great customer service if you have any problems. I bought a mystery box of small phals last holiday season, and two of those have been in near constant bloom ever since receiving them, the third seems to be an annual bloomer since it is spiking now, a year later. I always look out for their species specials, very reliably good plants. Big Leaf, Brookside, and Plants Well Traveled on Etsy are some of my other favorite places to shop for Phal species in the US.
