Phalaenopsis Noonien
Default Phalaenopsis Noonien

Over the course of spring and summer I expanded my collection quite a bit, adding mainly Phalaenopsis species, primary hybrids, crosses between species and primary hybrids, and a few other random things, most of them seedlings or small plants (I love growing seedlings!).

This is the first one to bloom, a primary hybrid of mentawaiensis and honghenensis. It's ironic that it would bloom first, since I did not actually intend to purchase it; it got here because of a mixup by the vendor, in place of another phal I ordered, which got refunded faster than I could click the send button (wish all vendors were like that). As a result this one was a freebie , and as a bonus it also had a minuscule sibling in the pot that is doing well and has since put on a few extra leaves (see picture).

Some interesting features from honghenensis, the very prominent spur in the back (in the closeup picture you can see it in the back of the bud on the left), lots of small freckles on the stem and the base of the leaves. No fragrance yet, but expecting that will develop.
