Repairing frost damaged Phal.
Greetings lovely, helpful Orchard Board members!!! I think I need to campaign for the official Patron Saint of Misfit Phals. or something because I've obsessed with rescueing those I come across on the markdown table at my job (I work at a grocery store)!! I bought this poor little girl yesterday and she really needs some help. It's actually 3 spikes, about 20" each. They're each in full bloom, just stunning. However, our florist said they were shipped ice cold. Some, not all, of the leaves are pretty much destroyed and the roots sticking out of the top of the pot are, needless to say, grey and shriveled. There are a couple of leaves that managed to escape damage and are nice & healthly looking. A couple of the buds obviously have "blasted" and I don't expect to save them. But as I mentioned, the blooms that she has are plump & gorgeous. Am I fighting a losing battle here? What's the safest way to repot-I want to split them up into 3 separate containers. Is it safe to cut off the dead leaves and dead roots? What sort of care should I give them after I repot?
Everyone on this board is always sooooo helpful and kind. Maybe if we could get world leaders to all just grow orchids there would truly be peace in the world!!!!
Thank you for any advice you can provide.
