I'm making a list of which Phals to order when it's time and I'm considering to order a few novelty Phals. This mostly because I didn't have a lot of them when I had my collection before and since I'm not going for any species this time around, I need something to take the place of the millions of Phal. equestris I used to have.
The issue is that I used to have a Phal. Jennifer Palermo and I wasn't too fond of the color of the flower. This is how it looked (first and only flowering):
I really like the color on the flower opening, but not on the one that's fully open.
I'm planning to order from Schwerter here in the EU and they have both these crosses available and with the same parents, but one is a Germaine Vincent and the other is Jennifer Palermo. I LOVE the color on the tetraspis/speciosa since it's a lovely red (at least on the image on the site), but don't care that much about the violacea.
My question is; does it matter which Phal is the seed parent and which is the pollen ditto? Can this affect the color in any way or will it be a tossup any which way?
I want a more reddish color rather than the cerise one.
EDIT: I forgot, they also have another Jennifer Palermo, but with a different tetraspis/speciosa parent. Instead of red it's white with a few red stripes. Would the pattern on the tetraspis/speciosa affect the color of the offspring in any significant way, or is it impossible to say?
So far, none of the offspring has flowered so they don't have any pictures to show. That's why I'm asking.
