Hi fishoman,
Yes, I got the P. gigantea from mail order. It did arrive yesterday and I have it mounted on cork. Pictues will be in the mounting forum later today (I hope, it's going to be a busy day).
I got it mail order as just about anything other than phals can not be found in my rural area of the world.
I'd love to talk trade but can that be done without a bunch of paper work? I'd love to have some jungle collected plants.........that would be so great! As long as they are legal to collect!! PM me anytime.
Al

Exclamation

My here:

Collecting orchids from the wild is strictly regulated all over the world (ok, some countries do not control ir or just don't give a S to the regulations ) and should not be done without collection Permits. Furthermore, trade of wild species should not be done without the required permits either (e.g. CITES -for all orchids!!!!)

And I think it is also the responsibilty of all orchids/plants/nature hobbyists to take care of that and put all efforts to keep to the rules and protect the wild populations...

Think about it guys!!! I have read in several threads here of people collecting plants from the wild in Asia and Latin America... and this comes everytime more and more often here...

Hi,
If you will carefully read my post I said:

"As long as they are legal to collect"

I have no wish to desimate natural populations of plants. I doubt if anyone here does. However, if they can be legally collected then they have been studied and determined that collecting is safe.

This is the last time I post on this subject. I had no intention of starting up a "save the world" thread.

Happy growing to all.
Al

Hi Al, it was not because of you.. but just a general remark here, as I have seen very often already comments of plants collected in the wild... please don't get me wrong on that point!

ok?
