Well Bird Song Farm, this goes out to you.
Once upon a time I purchased (from a well known Taiwan breeder) a Phal. Star of Florida it was a beautiful plant, well grown and looked healthy. I paid $500.00 USD for the plant. Yes; I know let the insults and jokes begin. Do not bother sending Private Messages I am not interested in Ocean front property, you have for sale in Denver, CO. Let's proceed, the best is yet to come.
I owned it for about a year and it flowered. The plant had just two flowers, however, the fragrance was so strong it filled the entire house, and the flowers were great. At the time I was growing all my Orchids indoors—applying indoor horticulture techniques, and my plants were doing well. My collection got two large and I moved the plants outside.
Hear is what it looks like today ... a beauty.
It has looked like this for about one year. After it died I place the plant in a large zipplock bag, w/some moss.
With closer inspection you can see there is new growth. With luck this will produce some new plants.
Hear is the only picture I have of the flower.
