What's up with my phal? Male
Default What's up with my phal?

I just acquired this recently from a local store, but when I got it home I noticed that it has a few issues.

Do the roots look burned to you? Maybe fertilizer burn? And there seems to be a moldy root coming out the bottom?

Any thoughts?

What's the remedy?

I can't see anything wrong with your plant.
The only issue is the degraded medium. A repot with new medium would do it good.

I agree with repotting. Most mass-market plants sold in bloom have been in that pot for quite a while.

Phal roots exposed to low humidity often look like the ones above the medium in your plant. As long as the roots inside the pot look good the plant will be fine.

Your Phal is perfect...some air roots dry that is normal.
