Phal. Species Peloric 'Gino' JC/AOS - Keiki Producing Two MORE Keikis
Here a picture of my Phal 'Gino'. It's not in bloom. It is developing two basal keikis.
I think this species is know for making keikis but I was sort of expecting it to happen when it was more established and had bloomed first.
I purchased this at Baldan Orchids as a large keiki and received it in perfect condition. As I was soaking the whole plant before repotting, I must have broken most of the roots, dunking it underwater with my fingertips. I THOUGHT I was being careful but. . .ur, wasn't.
So I did pot it up in a pot that I thought was too big, but I didn't want to squish the roots in anything smaller.
It has been very busy reestablishing itself. . .and now this! A little insurance policy?

I'm not sure of the keiki, it's basal and still down deep and hidden a bit to much to be positive. The 3 spikes are just barely showing, one on the present keiki and two on the mother plant. Just barely breaking through.
It's potted in bark with a spagh topping, hanging at a 45 degree angle. Just not up to picture taking today, tho I did plan on it. I over-did yesterday and am paying for it today. Also have a P. hiero in spike, a P. equestris 'River Bend' x p. equestris 'Zuma Beach' spiking, a P. Be Tris with two spikes and a basal Keiki, a P. Baldans' Venetian Peach Delight and P. Hunabu Sweetheart x Mambo "Baldan's Snow King" and some others. All the Phals. except the P. hiero are from Baldan's last fall. I think that's the secret, good stock to start off with.
I promise to do the picture thing.

Thanks, Sue!
Al: Know you're not feeling good today. . .just hang with us. This place, is nothing if not a place of healing for plants and people alike. Post pictures when you can, cause you are one awesome blossom.
P.S. I have that phal. equestris 'River Bend' x Phal equestris 'Zuma Beach' too. Mine sent up a single, kinda short spike about a month ago and it's beginning to open up.
The blooms are not super wonderful (my fault) but they're a lovely purple with pretty white edging and a quite vivid yellow lip & column. I've moved it around from work to home a few too many times. . .and it shows. But we're now all settled with a more stable growing place. So my hopes for it are gaining altitude.
