Funny how this hybrid is so hard to find in the US, but often available in Europe. Before all the covid related store closures I would occasionally see Phal Mini Mark at my local garden center, for just 15-20€...

Where I usually buy my plants there's a mini-mark in bloom for 11,50€ (13.75 USD).

There must be some mistake on that price.

I think that's a more normal price for this hybrid. There is no reason for it to be so absurdly expensive.

I'm not sure this one is cloned on a global scale. I think the populations are seed grown, hence (part of) the price.

And it's such a popular hybrid, the reason for it to be expensive is easy margin

Mini Mark is cloned, it just doesn’t seem to be imported into the United States regularly or in numbers. Novelty type Phals in general don’t seem to make it into retail stores here. At most United States online sellers $35 seems to be near the bottom in terms of Phalaenopsis offered that are anything other than a complex hybrid so $55 seems pretty reasonable (I snagged one).

Even though a lot of collectors want them, they don’t seem to have mass market appeal so I don’t think there is the economic driver to propagate and import them in large numbers. There are somewhat similarly colored mini Phals in the box stores that may be more forgiving husbandry wise and more floriferous that retail for $8.
