Hahaha nooooo the Necco candy doesn’t smell/taste like BBQ at all. It’s sweet candy, but hard to describe the smell. This Phal smells like 70% Necco candy, 30% BBQ/Earthy. It’s complex and has been shifting a bit in scent throughout the day. All in all, I am so fascinated by it and it’s parentage. Now I want to smell a Phal amboinensis in real life to compare (I was able to sniff a Phal venosa at an orchid show which was so cool!)

Can you still get Necco wafers? The company making them went out of business a few years ago.

Surprisingly yes, they were bought out by another company. I see them at the grocery store still. Wish I can think of a better way to describe the scent than the candy lol
