Phalaenopsis Little Sister
O rage! O despair!
O inimical tag mismatch! Have I then grown this Phalaenopsis so long only for this disgrace?
Corneille, Le Cid, loosely interpreted
Got this plant earlier this year, as a Phalaenopsis maculata.
The growth pattern, the leaves, the tag; everything says "maculata", except for... the blooms.
My guess is on Phalaenopsis Little Sister (maculata x equestris), but this specific one didn't even get the equestris' ability to make billions of flowers.
Still a cute lil flower, it will look nice when all of them open.

Yep, nice Phalaenopsis maculata x equestris. Probably at least worth a mention to the vendor, to quell the rage and despair a bit. Sometimes a gnashing of teeth and rending of garments can go a long way to salve the broken heart.

That is a nice bloom to be disappointed with.

I will tell them but in a very polite manner, they always give me free stuff so I'd feel bad being rude with them!

It truly is. Phal maculata is criminally underrated, and it's hybrids have a ton of potential IMO.

Yup, wasn't suggesting rudeness. If they're a frequent vendor of yours they'd likely want to know.

What a nice cross though. I think I would like this better, but thats just me. Good luck finding P. maculata in the future, and thanks for sharing this little gem

To be clear, don’t gnash your teeth, gnash theirs lol
A brilliant stowaway at least. It could be worse!
If they are the kind of vendor who is generally giving, I am pretty sure they will be horrified and want to make it good for you

True DC, I'll try to negotiate a Vanilla planifolia capsule so I can sow the seeds
Another good thing about having friendly greenhouse owners nearby is that I can get tons of pollen!

Fantastic blooms! I used to have a Phal Little Sister some years bak, but sadly it died after a little over a year in my care (can't remember what happened to it).
Does the vendor still have any of thes mislabeled plants? Over the years I've vaguely kept an eye out for a replacement plant when browsing vendor websites, but have had no luck yet.
