Is this an inflorescence in the making? Male
Default Is this an inflorescence in the making?

Hi everyone! My mother's phal orchid, coined 'Blush', bloomed for some 8-9 months after she was given it in January of this year before the last blooms finally fell off. Today, however, I noticed a new, dark red growth that does not appear to be a new root...is the pictured appendage another inflorescence? Thanks

I can't see that very well. But if it is a long, purplish stick-like thing, that is a spike.

New spikes can have a "mitten-like" appearance too.
