Emergency repotting of Brother Little Yellowboy Phalaenopsis, volume 2 - help!
Our first Phalaenopsis is most likely a Brother Little Yellowboy.
Like our other phal, she was purchased at a big box and SOAKED in sphag
Since she is in bloom, we are hesitant to repot, but the appear rootbound and already roting on some/many.
Thoughts on repotting? I will post pics on request, just in process of uploading.
thanks!
(p.s. could we mount her?)

Phal Brother Little Yellowboy
I bought one at a big box store as well and took it out of the moss it was potted in as soon as I got it home. It did not drop any flowers and that was in Feb.it was very cold here. Since then I have repotted it again in S/H medium and she is still doing well still no flowers lost. So far anyway. They seem to be tougher than we think.

If the roots are already rotting, you should repot. Cut off the dead roots, sprinkle some cinnamon and repot. A lot of times the blooms don't suffer from repotting, Even if they do, it's better to save the plant, so you can have more flowers next time!
If you have the pictures, go ahead and post them! They always help. As for mounting phals, I have no experience with it.sorry.

I agree with Camille, when facing root rot, every minute counts, take my word for it, being an amateur I thought I could only repot after my phal stopped blooming, and so I did, and I lost 85% of the roots to rot.
After coming across the OB and following their advise, it seems like my phal wants to make a comeback (no victory dance just yet).
I would (this time around) unpot while in bloom and if you lose a considerable amount of the root mass, definitely cut the flower spike and repot so the plant can focus on re growing roots instead of displaying blooms, just my 2 cents
Hope your phals recover surely and shortly.
Happy growing

If you cut the spike put it in a vase and it will bloom for a very long time.
