these plants crack me up..they are always in exact symmetry, but that means they are growing backwards to one another. I find that amazing and quite cool to look at. They also resemble antlers on a mount which also amuses me...…
the leaves are amazing but they aren't the show right now

Great looking Phals! I love this hybrid, though I don't have one myself since there always seems to be another orchid higher up on the wishlist that I'll buy first.
What are they growing in? It looks like pantyhose?

bingo!! it is a pine 2x2 that they are mounted too. I have a new experiment to make a wetter mount and this iteration is a pantyhose filled with shredder mulch then tied around the outside of the root ball...my alternative on the traditional method of using sphag.
the mulch seems to stay wet for a few days

So I wasn't imagining things, pantyhose it is! That is a rather creative set-up. Is the shredder mulch more long lasting than sphag, or are you having to replace it at similar intervals?

it does, i also find that it does not get to the point of dry where it becomes unruly...i do not like sphag for anything other than bulbos
