Would a "human" heating pad set on low work as a seed heating pad. I moved a table in a corner about 5 feet from a forced air heater, use a cool humidifier, and the area is higher than 70* F most 24/7. I am assuming that is enough heat for all my phals, 5 blooming with 7 or more non bloomers

Moisture is the enemy here... human heating pads are not designed to get wet, and water and electricity don't play nicely together. 70 deg F is fine for the Phals, a bit cooler at night is OK too (they'll put up with down to 60 deg F at night thought they would rather not) If you think you really need additional heat (I don't see that as a problem), a seedling heat mat is waterproof... you can find them on Amazon.

Lows in the 60s are fine for traditional culture (bark, moss, etc.) but if you’re trying to grow them semi-hydroponically evaporative cooling will make the temperature even lower and the roots won’t be happy.

I think I have solved the problem of having them in S/H. The ones that need a bit more warmth, I place on a brick shelf near my heater that is always warm but not too warm in the winter. Not sure what I will do in the summer.
