What gives with this. Never seen anything like this. My Phal. Brother Girl 'Brother' AM/AOS first bloom was in color sequence days later it turned yellow, thinking it was going to fall off and die-back, nope looks just as strong as the others. What causes this single bloom color change.

Did that bloom open a lot later than the others? I have the same phal, and they start out more of an orangy colour, then fade a bit over 3 months.

It was the first to open that is why I thought it might have signs of blasting but it looks the same as the other blooms other than the color. Thought it to be interesting. This one usually blooms for many months, will be anxious to see what happens. I am definitely clueless.

Did you buy this recently, or is it re-blooming for you?

The orchid in my display picture, has better blooms at the bottom of the spike (fuller and larger) than at the end of the spike, I think it was the change in the condition while it was producing the bloom (I pearchased mine about a month before the spike blossomed.).. thats all I can think of...orchids are strange arent they!!

I like the variation! Good thing you took pictures. Maybe it has something to do with the hybridization?

Justapynn, I own Brother Girl (beautiful, isn't it!). Your picture captures the beauty of it.

Sometimes the blooms open a little cream colored (yellowish), especially under high light, then fade to the whitish color in a few days.

This is really a gorgeos striped flower, very big, and with a little sparkle to it. I'm sure your "yellow" flower will be just like the rest. Not to worry.
