They make tube Less that you can use in T8/T12 fixtures. I would imagine they'd also have something compatible with T5s.
Do LEDs also lose their intensity as time goes by?

LEDs themselves should last decades or centuries. But the electronics necessary to convert alternating current from the wall supply to direct current the LEDs use wear out.
